Public Record Office Victoria is committed to ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities and special needs.
Parking
We have a free all-day carpark, entry off Macaulay Road, which includes 2 disabled parking bays. There's also disabled street parking out the front of our building on Shiel Street - please note street signage for times.
Wheelchair access
We have wheelchair access, lifts and disabled toilets.
Archive tours
Tours of the Victorian Archives Centre last one hour and a minimum level of fitness is required to walk and stand for the full hour. The tour is wheelchair accessible, but please note we do not have courtesy wheelchairs or walkers available at the Victorian Archives Centre so anyone requiring a wheelchair or walker will need to bring their own. If you've booked an archives tour and have special access requirements, please contact volunteers@prov.vic.gov.au and we will endeavour to meet your needs wherever possible.
Online access
We are currently undertaking a usability and accessibility review of all of our online services. The recommendations of this project will be implemented to enable Public Record Office Victoria better comply with WCAG 2.0 standards in accordance with the Whole of Victorian Government Website Standards. Some older text (screen) readers might have trouble interpreting the catalogue results pages as the software uses client side scripting technologies to support complex processes and aid usability. Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language (DHTML) has been used to dynamically change the content and presentation of what is displayed on screen.
Vision Australia can provide information to users on text (screen) readers and assistive technologies.
