Dear Sir
I am just about broken-hearted, fighting for a bit of land, under the Discharged Soldiers settlement act, 1916. You remember, I seen you last night, Tuesday 15th, and you promised to see me tonight at 5.30. I was there before time, and was told you were gone, and would not be back tonight, my time has cost me 5/6 for this afternoon, and this can be proved by writing to Mr. Thompson, Manager of the South Melbourne Gas Works. So the next step I am taking now, is to interview the Member for Melbourne Ports, in the Federal House, to show the public, how the returned soldiers are fooled. I shall also interview a sound strong gentleman, namely, Mr Donald MacKinnon, the Director Genera of recruiting, and prove to him that our treatment is brutal and
